More Than Just a Fence

Video_Moment(2)            Video_Moment(3)

Every once and a while we get the chance to give back.  We are always happy and proud to assist our customers, but this case was especially moving!

This customer is a mother to several children, one of which has autism. As the child grew, he would periodically run away from the house. This mom would have to chase him down, leaving her other young children unsupervised. Taking the kids to play outside became exceedingly difficult and rare as the child grew older.

A fence was clearly a necessity. Yet it was not recognized as necessary by the foundations that would usually provide support for this mother. After 4 years of trying to secure funding for a fence, she decided to give us a call.

After hearing her story, we knew we had to help. We were able to donate a Steady Freddy fence so the kids could play safely in their yard. The results were more impactful than we were able to understand at the time. This customer told us,

“The fence has given me the ability to work more and play with my children. And if that wasn’t enough, it also gave me the ability to make dinner while the children play, do a load of laundry, have a full cup of coffee, feel more like a regular parent.”

We are so grateful to all our customers. Without you, we would not have been able to give back like this. We are also grateful to our incredible employees who work hard to give our customers great service. Finally, we wish this family many nights of backyard fun!

WamBam’s 2019 Give Back Campaign!

As part of our annual “Give Back” Campaign, we here at WamBam decided to show our holiday spirit with donations to Urban Ministry Center here in our city of Charlotte, NC. The Urban Ministry Center has been providing services to Charlotte’s homeless population for over 35 years! These services include daily hot meals, laundry, shower facilities, and even assistance in creating valid IDs! Of course they are always in need of basic supplies and funds to help support their outreach, and we were happy that we could play some small part in their cause this holiday season! Throughout the month of December, our employees donated both items and money from their own pockets, which WamBam then matched.

The last few years have been years of fantastic growth and good fortune here at WamBam. We’re very proud of every member of our WamBam Family, who have not only made this kind of growth a reality, but who have also been so willing to pay it forward to others in their community!

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”

Mid-Spring Reflections

Our business is highly seasonal which means there are about 13 weeks of the year where we do the bulk of our business. We have been growing a lot over the past few years, so it can be hard to predict sales and inventory requirements. Plus, when systems get pushed to the max, the cracks are exposed. It’s a good thing because it helps us fix issues to position ourselves for future growth, but it doesn’t come without frustrations!

2019 has so far exceeded our expectations. We had a record breaking month which means all departments were pushed to the limits: record number of sales, record number of transactions to process, record number of parts shipped, and subsequently most boxes shipped out the door in a single day, week, and month. All of our fabulous employees stepped up to the plate to go the extra mile to do what needed to be done. Spring can be very intense and stressful at times, but through it all we still try to find some time to have some fun. Here’s a few mid-spring office highlights:

Matrimonial Bliss! Our warehouse manager Joey tied the knot recently. We had a little inner office party to celebrate but who wants to see a picture of that when you can see this epic wedding picture?

We have some big Game of Thrones fans in the office, but Ser Chris went the extra mile the day after the show's finale aired!

Linda promised a celebratory dance if we hit a record and she delivered on her promise!

It's not all fun and games. One of our star warehouse employees had to have emergency dental surgery, and she still came to work to make it happen despite a sore and swollen mouth!

Spring isn’t quite half over yet and the challenges will continue, but the growth related problems we face are good ones to have. I’m always in awe of our team in the busy season. It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we all band together.
