Handles Frost Better

Concrete footings can create a "lip", so if the frost goes deep enough, it can heave the concrete footing out of the ground. On the other hand, pipe driven into the ground doesn't create any lip. This means it will be less likely to heave up, resulting in better performance in cold weather. If it does, pounding a steel pipe back into the ground is way easier than replacing a concrete footer!
