Before You Begin
- Call 811 before you dig to check for underground utilities.
- Build one complete panel first, then drive all remaining pipes, attach posts, and build out from there.
- If your yard slope exceeds 3–4" per 6' panel, you will need to split your panels and purchase an extra post and brackets.

Your panel comes with 1 post/anchor kit.
You will need 1 ZP19046 to finish the fence run. If you are installing a gate (ZP19085), you will need two finishing posts — one to finish the run, and one to support the gate.

Post Pounder Considerations
Good
Sledgehammer
10-15lbs.
A basic option for very small projects. Requires two people to keep pipes level during installation.
Better
Manual Post Pounder
12-30lbs.
Best for projects with fewer than 10 pipes. Available online or at hardware stores.
Best
Gas Powered Pounder
Rentals are ideal for larger projects. Significantly reduces time and effort required.
Tip!
Don't use a 5lb sledgehammer — it won't generate enough force to be effective, and driving the pipe turns into a slow, frustrating grind.
Practice Makes Perfect
Start with one full panel — it's the best way to learn the process. Once complete, drive your next pipe anchor and build each remaining panel one at a time.

Step 1: Determine Slope
Check your yard's slope early. If slope is greater than 3–4" per 6', you will need to split panels and purchase an extra post & brackets.
Step 2: Set Stringline
Place two stakes at each end of every fence run and tie string between them. Your pipes will be driven according to this line. Need help? Watch this video.
Step 3: Mark Pipe Locations
Use loose stakes or mark the ground every 72" to determine exact pipe locations, measuring center-to-center.
Step 4: Drive Pipe Into Ground

Drive your first Pipe Anchor (A) into the ground. The bottom of the plastic ring should sit just above the ground when finished.
Step 5: Install Pipes

Check for level roughly every 6 inches. To help maintain level, pound the pipe equally from all 4 sides. Center of pipe to center of pipe: 72".
Step 6: Install Posts

Install Post (B) over your pipe, ensuring the tab is at the top. Using a wood block, pound the post so the bottom 3–4" is below ground. Repeat for the second post.
Step 7: Secure Posts

Optional: secure the post to the pipe anchor with (2) 1" self-drilling hex head steel screws (not included). This is worth doing if you're concerned about posts being pulled out of the ground — otherwise, move on to Step 8.
Step 8: Bracket Installation

Install one Rail Bracket (C) on the first post, approximately 2" off the ground, using four 1" Self-Drilling Stainless Steel Screws (G).
Step 9: Bracket Alignment

Slide the second Rail Bracket (C) over the opposite end of the Bottom Rail (D) and rest the rail into the bracket installed in Step 8. Adjust the post by sliding it left or right until the rail fits, then mark the bracket height on the post and temporarily remove the rail.
Step 10: Bracket Installation (Second Post)

Using your marked location, secure the Rail Bracket (C) to the second post with four 1" Self-Drilling Stainless Steel Screws (G).
Important Note:
Installing brackets at a 90° angle? Mark the four hole locations on the post and pre-drill using a ⅛" drill bit for steel (not included), then secure with the same four screws.
Step 11: Bottom Rail Install

Secure bottom rail (D) into brackets with four 1" self-drilling stainless steel screws (G).
Step 12: Top Bracket Installation

Measure 27" up from the top face of the bottom rail and mark the position for the top rail brackets on both posts. Install one Rail Bracket (C) on each post using four 1" Self-Drilling Stainless Steel Screws (G), confirming the top and bottom brackets are aligned to properly position the rail.
Step 13: Top Rail Install

Secure the Top Rail (E) into both brackets with four 1" Self-Drilling Stainless Steel Screws (G).
Important Note:
The top rail has picket holes on both sides; the bottom rail has holes on one side only.
Step 14: Picket Installation

Insert all 12 Pickets (F) through the top rail, pushing each one down until it locks into the bottom rail.
Step 15: Post Caps

Press the Post Cap (H) firmly onto your post until it locks in place. For a permanent hold, secure with PVC glue (not included).
